Terry Jennings text me:-
"Thanx Pauline, have read your text to Matt.

Waited at my new home for my new funiture to arrive.
I watched the TV whilst I made a coffee and looked at the red spots on the skull.......scary!
As I made my cuppa, I sat down and all I could hear was Jack, Uni and York?

I was chuffed at this mention for me from Matt Jennings.
I then looked at my little pottery pieces, I made these pottery pieces as I was trying to get better, they were quite good compared to the mess that my head was in.
I waved to myself with a giggle.
Went to bed early that night..................Goodnight!
I started to call my old contacts from my cleaning company, Bizzy Beez. I had quite a few chats and had a lovely conversation with Murray Findlay, the owner of McLean, Buchanan and Wilson in Govan, Glasgow. I had been looking for one of his employers but there was no joy.
We did giggle about me being invited to their X-Mas Party, I'm not their employee but I did get invited!
I decided to write:-
Dear Mr Patel,
I ended up 26minutes for my drugs,
will that embalance my body?
All my love Pauline Quinn
Now, this is me talking now........ I'm thinking, is this 26minutes late or early to 8am! Phewwww!

I'm still watching every ounce that has creeped or crept upon me!
My Cover Story for the Neurocare Charity Issue had been sent to Emma Douglas via Janiece.
Well I was surprised when I recieved a call from ;st
ELLEN BEARDMORE The Star News Reporter
The story so far was from Emma Douglas at Neurocare Charity, she told me that she had passed my story off to a professional, to read it, a News Reporter! GULP!
Emma said that the reporter would wish to interview me after reading my cover story. Cor Blimey!
A short while later my phone rang, as I answered I knew roughly who it was.............Here goes!
Ellen asked me all the right questions for her and I answered them all, I felt that she was just making sure that I was the right person who I'm supposed to be. Then Ellen asked more personal questions, so I asked her to stop there. We then giggled as I said about the interview and she said "That's it! The interview is over!"
WoW! I said that I was going to organise my hair, make-up, nails, choose a dress, my BLING, bake a cake for her and see her face and shake her hand.
As we were abandoning our laughter she left me with her contact number; just incase!
Ellen told me that my interview would be in the Star newspaper on Saturday, I'll look forward to it.
What a great day I had.
What I've decided for this month.................My pills are SMELLY!!!
Thursday 31st January
I've swam 10 lengths today, of the breadth not the proper length, my lengths.
Ellen Beardmore called me and she said that she will be interviewing Mr Patel at 1pm.
OMG, I was Ssoooooo excited that he will talk about ME!!!!
GULP!!!
Ellen then said to me that I wont be in the paper on Saturday as she has too many words for me but I would be in the paper on Monday. I had told her that I thought that there was too many stories that need to be told and that I would wait until the world was quieter for my story to be used.
Bed!
FEBRUARY 2013
Friday 1st of February; a good start to the month!
My door went first thing in the morning, I got a shock as I was delivered an envelope from the lovely WPC Janis Naylor and PC Steve Bircumshaw. My eyes popped out as I seen that I recieved double the money from them for my sponsorship for Neurocare Charity. Way to go you two!!! I'm flabbergasted!
I went to the Surgery to see my Dr, who then sponsored me for Neurocare Charity.
I went into town and went to Meadow Fresh Butchers.
These lovely boys have become good friends now.
John, Richard, Nigel and Joseph the young man.
They have all sponsored me with the biggest smile.
I thought.........Maybe I should do an odd shift behind the counter!
Only kidding!
I had a lovely steak pie for my dinner, thanx Meadow Fresh Chesterfield.
What a great day I've had!
WHAT A GOOD DAY!
I went to start my practice walking around Rother Valley Park for Neurocare Charity.
As usual, when I finished my walk a coffee was needed at the Cafe in Rother Valley Park.
Thanx to Rother Valley Park Cafe.
This was the sunniest day ever! Though it was snowing, it was four seasons in one day, did the climate know how to react.................!
It was now Monday the fourth of February, as I was finishing my lunch, Janiece turned up and placed The Star Newspaper on the table in front of me, I cried and cried and cried, and cried and cried.
My emotions went all over the shop!
For me to actually see my story in a real newspaper in black and white and see the Headlines:-
"I WAS LOCKED IN MY OWN BODY FOR 9 MONTHS"
by ELLEN BEARDMORE
News Reporter
I couldn't believe what was happening; my brain was jumping all over the place.
Me; two pages, crumbs!
On the second page it was my "HERO"
My hero is my Neurosurgeon Mr Umang Patel.
Mr Umang Patel is the Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield and he's been here for the last 10 years, I'm so pleased that he was still here to help me come back home. ALIVE!
This is Mr Patels words to The Star Newspaper:-
"He was in a dillema after my Stroke and he never expected such a dramatic recovery from me. He thought that the operation was worth a chance"

Chesterfield woman was locked in her own body for 9 months
A WOMAN has spoken of her miracle recovery
after a sudden bleed on the brain left her ‘locked’ inside her own body –
for nine months.
Pauline Quinn, aged 49, could not walk, talk or communicate other than using her eyes – and underwent three major operations – after suffering a type of stroke caused by bleeding in the brain.
Her distraught family never expected her to recover fully after months with little improvement, and had even begun looking for residential homes with special equipment.
But when a shunt was tried, placed in Pauline’s body to drain brain fluid and relieve the pressure in her skull, it had such a dramatic effect that she was up and talking just three days later.
The former Sheffield hotel worker said: “It is a miracle I am still here.
“When I first spoke in hospital I asked my sister ‘what the hell happened to me? Have I been here two or three weeks?’
“She took the biggest gulp and said ‘I’m sorry Pauline, you’ve been here nine months’.
“I couldn’t believe it had happened to me.”
Pauline’s sudden subarachnoid brain haemorrhage was caused by a ruptured aneurysm, a bulge in a blood vessel.
She had begun to feel unwell the night before, vomiting and staggering, and could not get up the next day.
Her time in hospital passed in a blur of disorientation, months she describes as being in a ‘black tunnel’ or ‘on my own planet’.
Even consultant neurosurgeon Umang Patel did not expect her to make such a dramatic improvement from the shunt and was cautious about her future prognosis.
Her sister Janiece Wallace, from Killamarsh, who had found Pauline unresponsive at her home, said: “Pauline’s recovery is the most amazing thing ever.
“It is a second life and she now just loves every minute of the day.
“She’s still recovering, but she is 100 times better than we ever expected.”
Pauline, formerly of Killamarsh and now living in Chesterfield, has written an online blog about her experiences to raise awareness of brain injury.
She is also taking part in Sheffield charity Neurocare’s 5km fundraising run in April to raise cash for lifesaving neurosurgical equipment at the city’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital, and is supported by Derbyshire head injury charity Headway.
She said: “I have to make the most of every day.
“I will do what I can to help everybody else because it is a terrible place to be, locked in your own body.”

Mother trapped in her own body for nine months after brain haemorrhage makes startling recovery thanks to last ditch surgery
- Pauline Quinn suffered a brain haemorrhage in July 2011 and was unresponsive for nine months, unable to walk, talk or eat
- Amazed doctors by talking again after shunt drained excess fluid from brain
- She told her sister she thought she had been in hospital for a few weeks

A woman who was trapped inside her own body for nine months after a brain haemorrhage has made a remarkable recovery in just three days.
Pauline Quinn, 49, couldn't walk, talk or feed herself. She was so unresponsive that plans were being made to move her to a residential home after doctors said there was nothing more they could do.
After three major operations, a last attempt to drain the fluid from Ms Quinn's brain was successful - and doctors were left stunned when she was up and talking after just three days.
Pauline Quinn was unresponsive for nine months after she suffered a brain haemorrhage. She is now able to paint again
Pauline in hospital: She started to respond again after brain fluid was drained by a shunt
'I had to brush her teeth for her and she was fed through a tube. I would talk to her and although she would move her eyes, there was just no one there.
'We thought she was going to be like that forever and there was nothing more we could do for her.
'Now there's just no stopping her! It's her second chance at life and she is so much stronger than she ever was before.'
Ms Wallace, 51, found her sister in bed almost 24 hours later and raised the alarm. Ms Quinn was rushed to Chesterfield Royal Hospital on July 20, 2011.
Ms Wallace said: 'I had no idea what was going on, she was mumbling gibberish and not making any sense.
'It was almost like she was in a trance.'
Doctors told the family that they had never seen anything like this before and that Ms Quinn was incredibly lucky to be alive.
She had suffered a sudden subarachnoid brain haemorrhage cause by a ruptured aneurysm - a bulge in a blood vessel. Surgeons clipped her anuerysm to make it smaller two days after she was admitted and she had a bone flap temporarily removed in a craniotomy on July 23.
Pauline with her neurosurgeon Umang Patel who gave her a new lease of life
Sisters: Pauline with Janiece (l) before she was rushed to hospital. And today after she emerged from her vegetative state
By this point her distraught family had given up hope of her recovering after seeing little improvement and had started looking for residential homes.
Then on February 4, 2012 doctors put a shunt into Ms Quinn's brain to drain extra fluid from her skull. When she came around she shocked them and her family by starting to talk.
Ms Wallace said: 'I walked through the door and she said "Hi Janiece, how are you doing?".
'I felt like I had been hit by a bus, I couldn't believe it.'
But Ms Quinn slipped back into a vegetative state shortly after.
Getting fit: Pauline is going to run a 5K for Neurocare
Just three days later she stunned her doctors by talking and trying to get out of bed.
Ms Wallace said: 'She had gone from being a person who could comb her hair or brush her teeth, to saying "Get off my bed Janiece, I need to go to the toilet!".
'She came to and she explained to me that she knew she was in hospital. She thought she had been there for a couple of weeks.
'I had to tell her she had been there for nine months. She couldn't believe it!
'It has given her a totally new lease of life. She wakes up every morning, points at herself in the mirror and says 'you are beautiful!'.'
It took Pauline another two months to learn to walk again, but she now enjoys cooking and painting and is training for a 5k run to raise money for Sheffield charity, Neurocare.

Hi there, it's me again; Pauline Quinn.
ReplyDeleteWhen you look at my picture in my hospital bed, I have a way that I hold my left hand. I've noticed that when I walk, my left hand reacts and goes into the same position. I usually put a stick or a brolly on the left arm to disguise the way how my hand reacts, sometimes I put my phone in my hand, again to disguise it? I wonder how this happens? Curiosity Eh! Pauline Quinn ;-)
